I set this webpage up in March 2008 to commemorate (online), the wonderful music shop - Barnstaple Music Centre, which has closed after 26 years of distinguished trading. I first visited Barnstaple Music Centre relatively recently (in 2000) when I was the sales representative for Spartan Press and Cramer Music. Even during the relatively short time that I visited Barnstaple Music Centre as a Rep, there were profound changes in the music trade (driven by the internet, which is not always the force for good that some would have you believe). Large, well-organised, family-run shops like Barnstaple Music Centre are rapidly disappearing across the UK, and the internet can never truly replace them. That said, I want this website to be a happy place (!), so if you have any interesting stories/experiences/photos connected with Barnstaple Music Centre, I would love to hear from you.
